Perhaps no two issues pose a greater threat to our future way of life than the effects of global climate change and energy uncertainty. Though much debate rages on about the research and scientific facts of each of these issues, there is a limited but growing movement towards adaptation and mitigation strategies to prepare for such implications. The goal of this website is to provide a gateway and starting point for educating the public about these issues that face us all. Moving towards energy resilience and protecting the environment is a collective goal.

Sustainability and 'going green' have become social buzzwords. Companies are adopting environmentally responsible practices and selling green products more than ever before. People are dashing to eco-friendly events, quick to gloat to friends that they are doing their part to better the environment. Gas prices soared during the summer of 2008 to record levels
never before seen in the United States. Effects of this were felt rippling across the economy in higher prices for goods, less money for consumers to
pump into the economy, higher costs to companies manufacturing goods, and the crunch felt by the agricultural industry, primarily smaller, localized
farmers.

Dependence upon carbon based energy resources has left us with an addiction that is not sustainable, which pollutes the earth, and one which threatens the stability of our global future. It is a singular problem, but one that provides plural solutions, obstacles and possibilities. The world has begun to awaken and recognize the desperate need for change in order to secure a future that will bring stability, resilience and prosperity for all.

Implementing change will not be an easy task. Lifestyles and normalties are entrenched in us all. While we look ahead to the enormous challenges that loom, action needs to be immediate. Cooperation, adaptation and mitigation offers transitional solutions for today, that will lead to a permanent tomorrow. Integrating progressive, dynamic strategies at all levels of government are mandated. While federal and state policy are largely responsible for shaping national behavior, driving real change is done at the local and regional level.

It is my hope that you will find this website not as key to all the answers but as a resource to raise awareness and educate about the issues and what steps can be taken in your neck of the woods.
